I went down to check the mail today, and I received a package! I rarely receive any mail anymore, other than the occasional bills, notifications, or mail from the Student Loans Nazi’s. I knew what it was, my friend told me he was sending it a while ago, but totally forgot about it until I saw it! My friend from Toronto sent me a copy of the Bangladeshi Curry Cook Book that is compact, but FILLED with awesome recipes. Maybe this is a hint to make me master these recipes, so I can be his perfect house wife. HAHahahaha… (I love you but, nope it’s not going to work). Regardless of the supposed motives (that I might have just conjured up for fun), I really really really appreciate this amazing gift and I have already spent a good hour reading the recipes and thinking about what to make first.
This book was written by Siddiqua Kabir, a mathematician turned into a Food and Nutrition specialist, and she has a cooking program on the Dhaka TV channel (or so the back flap says). Wow, that’s quite the leap, eh? Math to food? I mean, Architecture to Food seems a little obscure, but I could tell you all there is to know about how it’s very related. Anyway, I’m ecstatic that I am able to cook authentic, traditional Bangladeshi food with the help of this book. Now my house is going to smell like curry.
A beautiful postcard that came with the book So many curry recipes!
Egg curry with coconut milk Vermicelli with Milk dessert (I love the illustrations)
There is a thorough explanation of different types of spices, types of cooking methods, description of Bhaji, Dal, Niramish, Korma, Pullao…. wow…
Thank you SO MUCH Faiyaz!
Make the Vermicelli with Milk dessert so I can steal the recipe. I already have the noodles and LOVE it.... mmmmmm.
